LBS Bina is one name in property that has garnered some attention from the press as of late for making waves internationally. Much of its success could be attributed to its founder and current Managing Director, Tan Sri Lim Hock San, whose clarity of vision and tenacity has allowed the company to play an important role in forging ties between nations. Tan came from humble beginnings, graduating in 1982 with a First Class Honours from University of Wales, a Civil Engineer by training. After almost two decades at LBS, he was appointed the Managing Director, where he helms the ship until today.

Recently at the 7th World Chinese Economic Summit (WCES) convened in the United Kingdom, Tan was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award 2015. The event saw Tan receiving a very prestigious award, being recognized by more than 200 of its attendees, consisting of policy-makers, entrepreneurs, researchers and thought leaders throughout the world. The selection criterion for this award is to have “demonstrated a lifetime commitment to ‘making a difference’ and have provided continuous outstanding contribution towards the regional and global community.” At the presentation of the award, Tan Sri simply stated that it is a great pleasure to have his efforts recognized by the Asian Strategy & Leadership Institute (ASLI), and he deems that understanding cultural cohesion is the key to strengthening ties between the two governments.

This serves to recognize his enormous contributions towards the strengthening of bilateral relations between Malaysia and China, more specifically the province of Guang Dong. LBS is the first Malaysian conglomerate to operate a FIA-approved (International Automobile Federation) racing circuit, located in Zhuhai, Guangdong, China. It is known for being the first permanent racing circuit built in China, completed in the year 2002. As part of the Maritime Silk Road Initiative by first proposed by President Xi Jin Ping in 2013, LBS Bina would be bringing a Cultural Museum and tourism centre located in Zhuhai, China which would showcase the Southeast Asia’s tourism industry.
