Taman Tambun Baru is a leasehold, mid-cost project which is rather new in comparison to the nearby area. It consists of a few terrace and semi-detached houses and thus, lowly populated. There are many housing enclave nearby viz. Desa Tambun, Taman Desa Tambun, Taman Rimba Tambun and Tambun Heights.

Though it sits at the far east of Ipoh city, one can still reach the city easily although it is thought to lie in the outskirts.
From the area, it is 5 minutes to AEON Jusco, and 10 minutes to Sunway Ipoh as well as only 3 kilometers to Banjaran Hotsprings Retreat, which is a popular tourist destination. The Lost World of Tambun, a water theme park by Sunway Group draws thousands of visitors monthly, and is one of the greatest attractions within Ipoh.
A few schools can be found within the vicinity of Taman Tambun Baru, namely SK Tuanku Abdul Rahman, SK Tambun, SMK Wira Jaya and SK Raja Chulan. The location can be easily reached as lies along the PLUS Highway, which leads north to Penang, and south towards Kuala Lumpur.
The adjoining main road from Taman Tambun Baru is Jalan Tambun which can be reached easily. As it is one of the major roads within Ipoh, it leads directly to the core of the town by Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah.Connectivity-wise, the Sultan Azlan Shah Airport is one of the few airports within Ipoh state, and it is rather near to the project being 6.6 kilometers away.
