- A MASwings Twin Otter DH6-400 aircraft carrying 10 passengers and crew from Miri overshot the runway upon landing here
However, no one was injured in the 2pm incident as the air crew managed to bring the aircraft to safety on the grass next to the tarmac.
Fire and Rescue Department deputy director (Operations) Farhan Sufyan Borhan said Mukah Airport Control Tower reported heavy rain and strong winds during the time of the incident.
“We were told that downpour caused the runway to be slippery, making it difficult for the aircraft to land.
“But we are glad that the pilots gained control of the aircraft and avoided unnecessary situations,” said Farhan.
