- A fire broke out at the Menara Dua of the Bukit Aman federal police headquarters here this evening
It is learnt that that the Fire and Rescue Department team received a call at 5.20pm.
The fire was believed to have started on the 10th floor of the building before spreading to the 9th floor.
According to a Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department source, 24 firemen were dispatched to the scene and the flames were doused at 7.47pm
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar confirmed that the fire broke out on the 10th floor of Menara 2 in Bukit Aman.
In a series of tweets, the nation’s top cop said that the fire had since been put out and that there were no loss of lives.
He also said that the cause of the fire was being investigated and that unimportant documents on the corridor of the 10th floor were burnt.
“The office area is safe. The 10th floor is the administrative office of the Criminal Investigation Department.
“Please stop spreading rumours,” he tweeted.
